Unbeknownst to Mr. Noir during the production of Tower of Love, he would soon create the most infectious album of all time. You may have heard this song featured in the trailer for Little Big Planet (or in the game itself, if that’s how you roll), but it must be heard in its entirety for it to become properly lodged in your cerebellum, where it will remain for approximately 12 hours despite your best intentions to remove it. Best way to listen to this song: While frolicking, preferably in a field/forest.

Robert Schneider, The Apples in Stereo… it’s all just downright fun. Bored? Ever wanted to know what audible happiness sounds like? I’m sorry I’ve been missing out for so long (until relatively recently).

Talmudic scholars maintain that, after leading the Jews in exodus from Egypt, Moses paused, turned to his wife and said pensively, “I really hope some dude records a sick fuckin free-style about this shit someday.”
Some 5000 years later, Matisyahu came along and did just that! Following are selections from his incredible live album.

Aish Tamid by Matisyahu
The bass line is a nice hook from the get-go, but the real meat of this song is in the lyrics. Listen actively; the man’s words are fucking poetry.
Beat Box by Matisyahu
Exactly what it sounds like–mad beat boxing skillz.

well, I can’t say that I’ve been doing a great job of posting lately. Preoccupied I guess. But worry not, here’s a song that’s been on pretty heavy rotation in my iTunes library this week. Oh, and it’s not hip-hop.

Hey, so Murder by Death is coming to Tucson at on the 17th, at Congress. Only $10 bucks, 6:30pm doors. Two openers I don’t know. And MbD is going to play two of their newest albums in their entirety, so you know it’s going to be good, if they’re confident enough to do that. Anyway, y’all should come with me, it’ll be amazing. Their sound could be described as “Western” in the sense of Clint Eastwood “Western.”

The Moody Blues are masters of infusing music with emotion. Today, I offer two very different songs from this largely unsung retro-rock outfit: the first being among the happiest fucking rock songs ever; the second being among the saddest.

Ride My See-Saw by The Moody Blues
Whenever I listen to this song I have to fight the urge to run into the street and sing loudly at passersby. If you should feel the same impulse, just go ahead and do it. Life’s short.

Nights in White Satin by The Moody Blues
Oh, love songs of the sixties. So sad, so beautiful.
Now, go forth and laugh! Cry! Live!

In case you’ve ever wanted to hear sultry Arabic (correct me if I’m wrong on that one) spoken/sung over some seriously groovin’ midtempo beats ‘n brass, look no further. The BBB’s got you covered.

No, this isn’t a Seinfeld post (though I applaud you if you caught the reference). Just Armin Van Buuren, and a little bit of trance to add some aural ecstasy to your evening (unless you’re already at a rave, in which case just take the normal kind, I guess).
